We had a blast today! Our caching trip took us all over Monmouth and Ocean Counties. We were bit apprehensive driving out to LBI in season but decided to do so. Traffic wasn’t too bad. Given the speed limits on the island, whether it was today or mid-January, it still takes a bit to drive north.
The lot was pretty full, but we found a spot close by. I was going to let Fritz run wild, but put him in the stroller. I think that was the correct decision; he surely would have gone through the rails onto the jetty.
I’ve been here many times. Barnegat Bay is special to me. Twenty-five years ago my father purchased me a photograph of the by that hangs in our living room. I love that photograph.
The line into Old Barney was lengthy, so it was easy to tell Beetle we would not be heading up the 217 steps. How I would have managed the two young ones and all those steps I do not know.
The children enjoyed their first time here. Fritz really enjoyed looking at the water. While he was doing so it dawned on me he really is like his paternal grandfather. His mannerisms match my father’s to a T.
After a while of exploring (and caching), we headed back to continue our day.

Tucker’s Island Lighthouse is sitting somewhere at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. On 12 October 1927 it fell.
Tucker’s Island was an island (d’oh!) off the southern end of Long Beach Island. It wasn’t always an island. Reuben Tucker purchased the tip of Long Beach Island an established a resort there. It was named Tucker’s Beach. After he died, the Atlantic Ocean cut through to create the island; hence, the name change. Since then, Tucker’s Island has been claimed by the ocean.
In the 1980s a group formed the Tuckerton Seaport and built a replica of Tucker’s Island Light. It sits smack dab in the middle of Tuckerton, a lovely little town six miles west of where the original once shone.
There’s much to see and do at the Seaport.
The Particulars
To claim this upload a photograph of you standing in front of the lighthouse with your GPS. Across the driveway of the lighthouse is a sidewalk leading to the parking lot. The railing has metal stanchions. On them is imprinted Tuckerton and a year. Type the year for the confirmation code.

What is known as New Jersey was once territory of the Dutch. The Duke of York seized this land in 1644. He gave the land to Lord John Berkeley and Sir George Carteret. These two men split the land based on a line drawn by George Keith in 1687. Later, both Carteret and Berkeley sold their land. Those who purchased squabbled over the boundaries. In 1702 the territories were re-united as the colony of New Jersey. But the land squabbles continued.
in 1747, John Lawrence was hired to re-draw the line. The Lawrence Line, as it is now known, determined the border of East Jersey and West Jersey. That is when this marker was erected.
The marker, while it once most likely had inscriptions, no longer does. There is a memorial sign nearby explaining the significance of the marker.
- This monument is located at coordinates 39° 38.585, 74° 18.047
- It was erected in the year 1747
- At that time, it marked the border between East Jersey and West Jersey, which at that time passed through this monument.
- Currently, the border between East Jersey and West Jersey no longer passes through this location because the territories were united as the colony of New Jersey.

Cache=YOU STINK!
Cattus Island Park, Ocean County, NJ
Log
Date Found=12 July 2003
Battling New Jersey’s strawberry/biting flies looking for a cache without coordinates while leaping many streams to get to the proper island was a test of my endurance.
The log tells the story of the hunt and documents the murders of the biting flies.

Yikes!
I arrived at the parking coordinates. I was not happy. There is a small patch of woods between two houses. I pulled over and assessed the situation. It was not good. As I pondered my options, a woman at the house on the right kept eyeing me as did another across the street. I decided to drive away.
I circled around and saw no better place to enter. I returned to where I began and there were still folks hanging out. I drove off. I will not return to this cache.
