TCCBS

Didn’t find it. It wasn’t for a lack of effort. We waited out the muggles who were at GZ. Once the Delaware passed they moved on and we began our search. I didn’t come up with anything.

Then I broke out the hint. That moved me away a little from where I was looking. I am sure I just missed it, but we searched rather thoroughly and came up with nothing. While this isn’t the dune, I felt very conspicuous searching where I was with the number of people passing. It was good to have my one-year-old there digging with me.

I am pretty certain I was at the spot the hint indicated. It seems unlikely it would be buried too deep after a few days. I don’t know what to think, but we’ll wait until someone else finds it b4 trekking back down here.

I have been coming here for decades. Used to be a place Dad and I would come and watch the ferries. Then it was a party place. Now I’m back with my son. Circle of life, or something to that effect I suppose.

Cache Me If You Can!

I do not know if this one is there or not. I looked today and spent a little bit of time searching. This is one of those spots where coordinates jump. That coupled with knowing the owner dropped all his sponsorees this week and then withdrew from his sponsors certainly made it easier to walk away when the cache did not appear. Also, the only log on this cache was only one word five months ago.

This area is gorgeous. I saw numerous deer here, including two adults right at the ground zero (or at least where I thought GZ was).

It was extremely peaceful. I tried to park at the recommended area but felt a bit uneasy doing so. I re-positioned. I made a water crossing on a downed tree. On the way back I found the nice bridge. D’oh!

I had fun but with time running short and the other “issues” revolving around this listing I walked away empty-handed. YMMV.

In Flight - Bumblebee, Butterfly, Hummingbird

Somewhere in my archives I have photographs of a bumblebee and a butterfly in flight for this scavenger hunt.  But they are in the archives somewhere.  I am working my way through some of those photographs, but in the last three years I have over 200 CDs of photographs.  It is a large project and I have not come across them yet.

Last night as I futzed around in the garage, I spotted a bumblebee.   He wasn’t cooperative, but it did remind me of this hunt.

Today after a paddle, I spotted a few dragonflies.  Thinking I needed a dragonfly for the hunt I spent some time getting a shot of one in flight.  I finally did and now as I work through these photographs I see a dragonfly isn’t needed.  Oh well . . .

My birthday is coming up.  I think I may treat myself to a hummingbird feeder. :)

DO IT WITH A BIKER

DNF

This is why scavenger hunting is so difficult. I went to a bike show today. There are nearly 500 scavenger hunts I have not found; I do not have them memorized so I futzed up the requirements. I had a biker hold Rocky as I took the photograph instead of having someone else take a photograph of me with the biker. How often am I going to have this opportunity?

Oh well, next time . . .

Mission Impossible 2- Audrey’s Awesome Adventure

Monday, February 18th, 2008

I e-mailed Rob yesterday. I explained my adventure seeking the first stage of this cache. He wrote back with a clue. After finding Welcome to Menantico, I headed over here. I was optimistic.

I decided the cache must be underneath the tree, which hangs off the edge of a cliff. I scoured the root system. Nada.

I spent another hour and twenty minutes looking high and low. Unlike Saturday, the coordinates seemed to stay on the tree pretty well. Occasionally while under the tree, the needle jumped, but once there were clear skies, all was well.

Sigh . . . I don’t know what the issue is. I could just be missing it like I did with Welcome to Menantico. But with it not having been found since June, I wonder if it may be MIA. I did not see what Rob pointed me to, so who knows, perhaps I am not in the correct spot at all.

It sounds like he’s going to check up on it, but I gather he has injured himself, so it may be a while. This isn’t exactly a drive-by. :)

Nevertheless, spending the morning at The Ponds is always welcomed. I decided to hoof it over to Weighting to be Found to see if my flag was there. This is about .9 miles away. The overcast sky cleared and it was absolutely gorgeous while I hiked out here. I worked up a perspiration rather quickly. Passed the dead tree, passed the railroad crossing, and to the cache. I looked in the hole and there it was. I hadn’t put it there, so I must have left it on the ground and the wind blew it into the hole. Some dirt was already on top of it. So, flowers22, no need to make another. Yet, if you have already begun, I am certain I can put another to good use.

On the way back I spent some more time investigating the first stage of Mission Impossible. No dice.
