What kind of reporting is this?  What the House passed yesterday is not $700 billion.  The House could not pass the bill when it was that dollar figure.  The bill was stuffed with $150 billion worth of pork.  That ,eans the bill was $850 billion.  Why did the AP not report that? . . . Lest we forget, former state senator Nick Asselta is continuing to screw New Jersey.  Asselta, if you recall, sold out his constiuents on the last day he was in office by voting for a billion dollars of more spending for a seat on the Board of Public Utilities.  Now, twice a month in a taxpayer paid-for automobile, Asselta works.  What does he do?  Allows the utilities to raise rates another 14% . . . this is classic O’Reilly.  Good television and the more Barney Franks is taken to task, the better:

. . . Speaking of Barney Franks, does anyone have an issue that his lover was a Fannie executive? . . . Palin’s spin of her Couric interview is lame . . . FWIW, I thought she rebounded well, but it matters little. Biden did okay too. It comes down to the big boys and Obama is too polished, it appears, to change the course in a month. We shall see . . . I used to listen to Howard Stern. It seems as he was married Friday. Hmmm . . . O.J. was found guilty of the robbery and assault of two memorabilia dealers. This verdict couldn’t happen to a nicer guy. Will there be riots? . . . How ’bout them Phillies? . . . the playoffs have been fun thus far . . . this weekend the smoker will have the latest propaganda NJEA Reporter as fuel. I tire of my dues being spent on multiple four-color publications supporting political candidates I do not endorse. Unfortunately I cannot burn the Review . . .

On Immigration

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Okay, I know I am linking to a lot of Fred Thompson video of late, but the man has the right responses to the questions. As I wrote to someone earlier,

He is not a dynamic speaker. He answers questions. He is straightforward. He has a plan. Obviously he is unfit to be president.

I do not see the negatives in Thompson. His campaign has been lackluster, but he hits home run after home run on the issues. That’s what I am looking for in a president.

McCain supports Shamnesty. Giuliani ran a sanctuary city. Huckabee ran a sanctuary state that provided tuition breaks for illegal aliens. Romney supported McCain’s position and then flipped, so who knows where he really stands? Thompson is the only one holding those who commit an illegal act accountable.

Forget the Straight Talk Express, how can one not appreciate Fred Thompson’s candor?

Fred On Shamnesty

This is why I like Fred Thompson. He needs to get his message out there better because he was on tonight! The following is his smacking Rudy Giuliani over immigration. Frankly, I thought Giuliani looked weak this evening.

Fair and Balanced?

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

Hardly.

I watch Fox News precisely because I find it fair and balanced. Reports tend to support that as well.

Yet, excluding Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter from tomorrow’s debate in New Hampshire is hardly fair nor is it balanced. The New Hampshire GOP has pulled its sponsorship of the debate because of this.

We believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums. This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.

Neither candidate will be the Republican nominee. That is not the point. Both men are still in the campaign as Republicans and should be afforded the same courtesy of expressing their opinions as the other candidates.

Personally, I would welcome a smaller field so more dynamic debate could occur. Until the field shrinks, however, all should be included. Political speech is the most precious of speech in our country. A news organization should concentrate on reporting and facilitating discourse, not shutting it down.

Shame on Fox News for this.

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for this blurb.
