Read Before You Enter

I’ve been busy most of the week setting up my classroom. It’s the first time in six years and there’s a lot to do. After a week, there’s still a lot left. Today before I left, I hung the first thing on the wall. It’s actually on the wall in the hallway right by the door.
This is part of a poem named On the Other Side of the Door. It was written by Jeff Moss. Moss was one of the founders of Sesame Street. It was just today that I realized he created Oscar and Cookie Monster (my two favorites . . . I also like Grover) and wrote the songs Rubber Ducky and I Love Trash. It’s no wonder I have been a fan of his poetry.
This verse has hung outside my classroom since I began teaching.
