. . . I drove down Buckshutem and then headed down Cedar. Along the way, I decided to stop and log the airport sign scavenger hunt. While I walked back to the car, I recalled there was a benchmark here I somehow never logged. I walked over and took several photographs of this good-condition mark.

On our way to D.C. area for the weekend we stopped by this little park for a respite.  It was an enjoyable place to stretch the legs for a couple minutes and have the children play.  It turns out that it was on this playground that my son rode his first swing.  Gert and I conferred and could not recall him having been in a swing prior to this. :(  We appreciated the opportunity as did Fritz who enjoyed the activity thoroughly.

The disc and the plaque were easily found.  I enjoyed reading how the marker was set in September 2001 to identify the symbolic center of Maryland.

Thanks Merritt for providing this stop for our family.

I’ve documented this previously. This is easily found on the bridge over the Maurice River heading east.

A BENCHMARK STORY

Disinterested in the current state of caching in my playground, I have sought alternatives. I have played some golf and chased some dashpoints, but was seeking something else. TerraCaching has stepped up and since the only terracache near me is 100 miles away, I looked to locationless caches.

About three years ago I did a few locationless. I enjoyed the ones I did, but finding a box at coordinates still held my interest far more. But the last week has been quite interesting. One of the first that I logged here was the Picture your State Parks cache. For it, I visited Parvin State Park. I had just picked up my infant daughter. She was bundled in a pink sleeper my brother-in-law had given to her at Christmas. She is used to Daddy taking her to the woods so she was all smiles.

The next several days saw me doing quite a bit of research on a few of the caches which have been posted. While logging towns in Texas, hiking in Scotland, or finding a Lewis & Clark disk are unlikely where I live, there are plenty of things to keep me busy. It is amazing; for being as obsessed with caching as I have been for the last three and a half years, I now drive by known cache locations seeking cornerstones, hitching posts, and the like.

I toast all you TerraCachers. Whoops, I need a drink for that. Barkeep, another Bacardi and Coke please.
