Sometimes the stars align and good fortune shines upon you. I don’t know much about that, mind you, but it is said to happen. :)

I met up with my buddy Ken for another exploration day. We do these on a regular basis. We played in his area today. He had been perusing my Help Wanted list and had planned some stops during our Blitzkrieg. Early on he brought me to the Flyers SkaeZone in Pennsauken. I asked why we were here. He said I needed a Zamboni. D’oh! Sometimes I can be so dense.

But to be truthful, this Zamboni hunt was not on my mind. I had long ago figured I would eventually make it to a hockey game (who cares if it’s been 20 years since I saw a game live?) and take the necessary photograph then.

Yet, here we were. There are two ice rinks and a Zamboni available. We asked and the one guy working there didn’t know much. He just said after the current skate was over it would come out. How long that would be no one knew. We left.

Later in the day as we doubled back for some things we made another stop. No one was around at all. After a pit stop we decided to look for the Zamboni. Some guy came out and we explained what we were looking for. It was no problem whatsoever. I even got to sit in one.

They actually have two ice resurfacers. One was being worked on. That was the larger of the two. The smaller one the guy took out and resurfaced one of the rinks for us. I am pretty certain if I had pushed he would allowed me to ride the thing, but I backed off.

This was really kewl. The things one does for this game never ceases to amaze me.

I never understood the fascination with these things, but they are humorous. My mother came through with the second kewl thing of the day for me. Thanks, Mom!

This is too cute. You can hear Big Papi sing and us dance bobble by going here.

What kind of Profession do you see?

This is a statue of Robin Roberts.  Mr. Roberts was a major league pitcher from 1948-66.  Most of his career was spent with the Philadelphia Phillies.  Roberts was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1976.

This statue is at the first base gates at Citizens Bank Park, the current home of the Philadelphia Phillies.  Fritz and I stopped by today as part of our The Boys Are Back in Town Tour.  This was the first time he has been to the park.  He was adorned in a Phillies outfit of his own.  His daddy hopes he will be a pitcher just like Robin Roberts.  I am his agent.  He has agreed that I will earn 80% of his first contract.  After that, it is all his. :)

If you have never read French Laundry at Home treat yourself. It is an exemplary foodie blog. This post is enough to hook the casual reader . . . Conversing with those who practice verbal diarrhea is a waste of time. I know better . . . Happiness is the smell of chili is wafting through the house . . . Strange things I remember: It’s Ricky Barab’s birthday. I haven’t seen this guy in more than 20 years, but I remember his birthday. Go figure . . . Congratulations to the Boston Celtics. It’s been a long time since they had a championship. I have fond memories of the old Boston Garden. Of course, the best moment at the Garden was in ‘82 . . . Wordle is fun . . . Thomas Sowell is a smart man.  He writes well too.  Usually I agree with him . . . A somewhat stream f conscious piece, but my mother pointed me to a Slate article (When’s the last time I visited there?  I suspect when Kinsley first went to work for them, but he has moved multiple times since.) about catch phrases.  I really thought It is what it is was a phrase made famous on the first season of Top Chef . . . One of the better Deviant Art animations I have seen . . . Wish lists work.  I received a book (But Didn’t We Have Fun?) for my birthday because I had it listed on my wish list.  Feel free to pick off a few treasures from it, if you are so inclined . . .

Why does a march against gangs happen on Father’s Day? How about honoring Dad instead? . . . TwitterLocal is pretty kewl. Here is the feed for Millville and 20 miles out . . . I am getting old. My students had physical education today. Whilst picking them up, I took a couple swings with the “Nerf” covered bat. I swung so hard on the second pitch I hurt my wrist. Even so, the ball slammed off the far wall. My students were impressed. :) I’ll pay for this for a few days, I am sure . . . Haven’t been watching The Factor much recently.  The more air time Dick Morris gets, the less I am inclined to tune in.  He’s been wrong with his analysis throughout the campaign.  Why does this john still get a platform? . . . Not that I am following this at all, but the headline caught my attention.  “Because of this case, I have been financially crippled,” McGreevey told the judge. Oh please.  The divorce hasn’t harmed you, your corrupt nature has affected your earning power.  I am fine him not paying his wife millions.  She seems to want servants, helicopters, and the like.  But “the Gay American” should be forced to pay a certain percentage of his income, just in case he is not playing it straight in the trial.  History says it’s a fair bet he isn’t . . . Hey, Sen. Obama, I understand your use of sweetie.  I use sweetheart several times a day.  Of course, I say it to nine- and ten-year old students . . . Just in case anyone thought government does not overstep its purview, check out what New Jersey is pushing through the legislature.  Citizens apparently no longer have the right to not purchase health insurance . . . Oh, I can’t believe suing is going to help Carla Katz with the union . . . I have to say I agree that the NJ DOE should seek to recoup squandered tax dollars from school districts who misused the funds . . . FWIW, playoff hockey is exciting . . . Forget closing the state parks.  I just found $143 million to cut from NJ’s budget.  This money comes with no strings attached.  I thought Corzine got rid of the Christmas tree fund.  I guess not.  Really, Garden State voters: how long are you going to vote for corruption? . . .
