Cancer Sucks

Cancer does indeed suck.
When I was still courting my wife I learned this lesson oh too well. Gert’s best friend was diagnosed leukemia. For a year we watched her battle. She was such a good woman: strong, vibrant, and a loving mother. She had a bone marrow transplant. It was successful, but she ended up with aspergillus, which took its toll on her.
She did so well, but she lost her battle right after her daughter’s first birthday. She was far too young to go to heaven. We miss her.
Our daughter’s middle name is in honor of our friend.
Tonight I visited the local salon. I didn’t mind the task. I’ve always wondered bout being bald. Somehow I thought I was going to have an odd-shaped dome, but it looks all right. Even Gert approved. This is the first time I have had more facial hair than hair on my head. Ha!

You are constantly making comments about how ‘old’ you are - mostly as an excuse for something - and I take exception to that. You are younger than I am and age shouldn’t be an excuse…but that’s an issue that won’t be hashed out here. HOWEVER, this new look you are sporting does make you look old…much older than you are…I think the facial hair adds to that perception.
The challenge for the scavenger hunt is worthy and noble but the look isn’t as flattering as your traditional appearance…cooler in the summer though.

That I am younger than you just goes to show . . . how old you really are. Sorry.
I thought the chrome dome made me look younger, to be honest. Oh well, it’ll grow back.
