Somebody Needs a New Compass
Yesterday I changed plans for today. Originally I was heading to the Pine Barrens, but I stumbled across something in Delaware and decided to re-route my day. I figured if I was going to be here, I might as well try to rectify my DNF.
I looked at the maps again to see where north and south would be in the same direction. I looked at my track log from last July. Every place I came up with I had been to before. Hmmm . . . I tried a couple spots thinking perhaps I just missed something. Bingo!
But hadn’t I been there? Ah, I thought I spotted my mistake. I awoke very early, strapped the kayak to the truck and took off. I watched the sun rise not too far away. Ah, memories. I have fond memories of watching the sun rise about 10 miles south of here. Adolescence.
Anyhow, I actually drove the road that wasn’t here when I lived this way and that made the difference. I had driven by the signs last July, but I was on the wrong side. I figured I could not have been more than 10 feet way. Sigh . . . forget everything I wrote last year, the signs are where they should be. It looks like there is now a gap that wasn’t there when you took the original photograph.
Thanks, Bob. This was a good hunt and one that got me thinking.
