Fair and Balanced?
Hardly.
I watch Fox News precisely because I find it fair and balanced. Reports tend to support that as well.
Yet, excluding Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter from tomorrow’s debate in New Hampshire is hardly fair nor is it balanced. The New Hampshire GOP has pulled its sponsorship of the debate because of this.
We believe all recognized major candidates should have an equal opportunity to participate in pre-primary debates and forums. This principle applies to tonight’s debates on ABC as well as Sunday’s planned forum on FOX. The New Hampshire Republican Party believes Congressmen Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter should be included in the FOX forum on Sunday evening. Our mutual efforts to resolve this difference have failed.
Neither candidate will be the Republican nominee. That is not the point. Both men are still in the campaign as Republicans and should be afforded the same courtesy of expressing their opinions as the other candidates.
Personally, I would welcome a smaller field so more dynamic debate could occur. Until the field shrinks, however, all should be included. Political speech is the most precious of speech in our country. A news organization should concentrate on reporting and facilitating discourse, not shutting it down.
Shame on Fox News for this.
Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for this blurb.
