I Support Governor Corzine
He got one right!
Governor Corzine has denied paying state workers not to come to work on Black Friday. Puzzled?
Last year I documented how Corzine promised not to authorize this ridiculousness again. It seems that somehow state workers squeezed out an extra holiday that is not negotiated and had been collecting for not working on Black Friday for years. The governor was caught off-guard last year and acquiesced to paying thousands of workers not to come to work. Of course, they are paid with our tax dollars. The governor, however, promised not to ever do that again.
Corzine’s spokesman said,
The state will remain open for business the day after Thanksgiving. As we said previously, workers can make use of a vacation or a leave day.
Good job, Governor. This is a small step in the right direction. I applaud you keeping your promise to the taxpayers of the state and closing down one of the outrageous expenditures on the public tab.
