Gert’s Gift to Me

While I am on an extended break (more or less) from geocaching, I have been planning a big run up north.  Gert asked me what I wanted for Father’s Day.  I stated that she could forgo the presents for that day, my birthday, and our anniversary (within two weeks of each other); all I want is time.

Fritz’s arrival has anchored me.  It is difficult with the two children to escape for my outings.  But I was already in a slowdown with caching by that time. After all the caches I have found over the years, I am finally finding the time and effort I put in is harder to justify these days; there just is not enough drawing me to the game these days.  Unlike these folks (reg.req.), I am finding the mundane uninspiring.

Nevertheless, I still like an outing here or there just to keep the juices flowing.  Gert’s gift to me of a 30-hour spree is something I am really trying to maximize my enjoyment.  I keep coming up short of reaching a destination I was trying to get to.  It looks like I might have to treat Gert to a vacation someday to get those. ;)

Nevertheless, all is coming together nicely.  All I really need to do at this point is to confirm one thing and print out some maps as a back-up to the PDA and I am all set.   Of course, I suspect I will not cash this in until July as we are pretty booked for the balance of the month.

One Response to “Gert’s Gift to Me”

I have yet to take this trip. It’s come up a few times this year, and I opted not to go. Just this evening Gert mentioned I should go next week. Mind you, I think the budget for the summer will be shattered if I drive that much at the outset.

I am not certain when this run is going to happen. I did manage to squeeze an overnight into the plans. :) That will permit me to get to Niagara.
