Corzine Does Not Comply With Federal Subpoena
The other day Gert and I learned that the due date for Fritz had changed and he will be delivered a week earlier than we expected. We are now scrambling to get ready. I mentioned this to a co-worker who stated correctly, “You had nine months to prepare.” Indeed. That we are scrambling is our own fault. We will be ready, however.
It is with that background that I was bemused to read that Governor Corzine will not meet a deadline to turn over documents subpoenaed to U.S. Attorney Chris Christie. It was just a little nugget in a piece about how the legislature did comply.
The governor’s office, meanwhile, said it will miss a March 8 deadline to comply with a federal subpoena issued last month.
Why? How can the legislature and the Attorney General’s office get this done, but not Governor Corzine?
Recall, Corzine promised to end corruption, favortism, and fraud in the state. Yet, here is the U.S. Attorney’s office investigating his very first budget and the governor won’t meet the deadline. Perhaps Corzine would be willing to let New Jersey’s citizens slide on when they pay their taxes since deadlines mean so little.
