Big Media Getting Small

Often in news reports, it is stated that a certain individual did not immediately return a telephone call from the reporter.
Just now I read a new twist on that. In the AP article about the arrest of John Popper (What were you thinking, John?), reporter Nicholas K. Geranios wrote:
Popper did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment Wednesday night.
Heck, I could e-mail Popper and I bet he wouldn’t respond. Somehow sending an e-mail seems less journalistic than researching someone’s telephone number. But perhaps this is what lies ahead.
