Super Bowl XLI Prediction
To go on the record, prior to the game, allow me to share my Super Bowl prediction.
I do not like the Colts. It stems mostly from my dislike of Peyton Manning as a quarterback. Yes, he is good. But I am not convinced he is good as others make him out to be. I have never been a Tony Dungy fan. There is something about him that doesn’t sit quite right with me. I am not certain what it is. Mostly, I gather, my dislike of the Colts stems from the image of the Mayflower trucks pulling out of Baltimore so many years ago in the middle of the night as the Irsays moved the franchise. That and the fact the Colts were in the Dolphins’ division for so many years.
It’s not so much I like the Bears either. The ‘85 Bears put a serious challenge to the Dolphins’ perfect season. Of course, the Fins took care of that on Monday Night. :) For much of my life the Bears have been hapless. Their current team is nothing to be terribly excited about. Rex Grossman is inconsistent and the lesser of the two quarterbacks in this game. The Bears play defense and that is the part of the game I really enjoy. It will not be a stretch to say I will be rooting for Chicago today.
The better team is Indianapolis. I predict the Colts will win 27-14. I, however, will be rooting for the Bears.

You just dislike dungy because you’re a racist. That’s why you’ll be cheering for Lovie Smith… Oh… Uh… Nevermind.

I predict the Colts will win - purely emotional, Dallas Clark is the hometown boy from our Iowa home…sure, we’ve moved away but since we ‘watched’ him develop into a pro player from the high school standout we read about in the local paper, we’ll support him in the Super Bowl. Go Colts!

You know…’predicting’ one team will win and ‘rooting’ for the other isn’t REALLY taking a stand. You’ve got both options covered…be bold, go out on a limb, pick ONE team!

I did pick one team to win: The Colts.
I do not want them to win, but they will. It is okay to root for the other team. It’s like when the Phillies play the Cardinals. I root for the Phils, but if I am asked who the better team/team more likely to win, it will be the Cards. There is no issue with that.

Not terribly different than what I thought. I was excited with the opening kickoff returned for a TD. The Bears looked good early, but they were no match for the Colts.
The Colts won by running and playing defense. That is the kind of football I like. Manning ran the offense, but was not the offense. Congratulations to Indy. They played a good game.

The ads were disappointing but I did like the half time show. I was reviewing our taxes (yay for refunds) during the opening so I missed Billy Joel. I figured he’d be better than Prince (although I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the half time).
The rain sure made for some challenges…I like to see how the teams work through the obstacles.
