This turned out to be more difficult than it should have been. Looking at local maps shows the plethora of bodies of water named for animals. “Piece of cake,” one would think. Nope.

I even sought help after not finding a sign at any of the numerous streams, creeks, etc. I looked at. A buddy of mine ensured me that there was a sign for Beaver Creek in the Pine Barrens. I went off-road in search of this elusive sign. All I found were more pinstripes in the paint of my truck.

“Bah!” I thought.

Having put this on the back shelf, I took off for a four state dash hunt today. As I rolled down a road in Maryland, what do I see but a sign for Little Elk Creek. I do not think the vehicles behind me enjoyed the quick pullover I made. Whoops!

I ended up seeing two more of these too. Go figure. The Old Line state honors its animals properly. :)
