Who Wants Some Tickets?
As I sit here working on the GeoCarnival, watching the Phillies game, and contemplating a run out to pick up a quick cache, it occurs to me that five years ago tonight Gert and I were in Philadelphia watching the Phillies play the Giants, just like they are tonight. Bonds crushed a home run down the right field line of Veterans Stadium that we watched as we sat on the first base line. That was one of 73 bombs he hit that year.
The linked scorecard only has Gert’s scorecard. I am not certain why mine is not there unless I used my big book that night. I’ll have to check. You know you found the right woman when she learns how to score baseball games because of you. ![]()
Interestingly, someone contacted me after that who saw the scorecard online and inquired as to whether or not I still had my ticket stubs. I did. He was collecting stubs of all the games Bonds hit home runs in that year and offered me $50 for each one. I was incredulous. He assured me he was serious. I scanned the stubs and he sent a check. After it cleared, I sent the stubs. I believe the tickets were $20 apiece. I made two and one-ha;f times the price for essentially trash. Yes, I usually save stubs and scan them in for posterity.
But if anyone else wants some old ticket stubs and is willing to provide a C note, drop me a line.
