Working for the Man Every Night and Day
Being a public school teacher, the length of my contract is 10 months. The way our negotiated pay works out, in March I receive a third paycheck. This check has nothing removed from it other than taxes. All union dues, tax shelter payments, etc. are done with for the month, so many folks refer to this pay day as the big check.
A quick calculation finds that payroll taxes are 30% of the check. Lovely. As a 10-month employee, that means that today marks the last day of the year that I work for the government. Starting Monday, all the money represents money for the eCache household.
Three months working for inefficiency, fraud, waste, and corruption. Perhaps I could have saved a payment if this kind of egregious misuse of my tax dollars wasn’t permitted to exist.
