Caching Becomes Political
Following the thread about the South Carolina bill H 3777 which is currently in the Senate, I read geoholic28’s take about today’s AP story about the bill:
Being that Cieps is a Repbulican, The Greenville News is very much a anti-liberal paper. So it does not shock me they edited everything good for us bad for her out of it.
As long as I have been caching, I never applied liberal-conservative politics to it. Sure, there are internal politics, but the thought that Democrats might be more in favor of caching than Republicans never ocurred to me.
Why would he think so? geoholic28 is a 23 year-old student in South Carolina. College students tend to be more liberal than older adults. Perhaps that is the bias.
The legislator who introduced the bill, Catherine C. Ceips, is a Republican. Perhaps geoholic28’s response is a knee-jerk reaction to the lady who introduced the bill.
Could there be a legitimate debate across party lines about geocaching? The only way I truly see this is calling up stereotypes that Republicans do not care about the environment. Of course, that is pure bunk. Let’s see if anyone calls him on it. I suspect not.
