New Shutterspot
I am quickly becoming addicted to shutterspotting. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find any yet as no one else around here has taken to this game. Perhaps this piece will help.
Scout created this game about two months ago and hosts it on his site. The idea of Shutterspot is that one receives partial coordinates of where an accomanying photograph(s) was taken. The task is to find the location the photograph was taken.
The partial coordinates allow one to narrow down the possibilities of where it is, but it is still a challenge. The above image was taken in Cape May. There are many Victorian homes there, so this is probably not obvious, unless of course, you are familiar with the town. There are other photographs around the circle of the main image. Those photographs were taken from the exact spot the middle photograph was taken, but at other angles. Shutterpotting is about finding the location the photograph was taken, not the coordinates of the subject of the photograph.
So, with that in mind, given the following partial coordinates:
N38° 5-.—
W074° 5-.— (in WGS84 format) and the additional clue that this is in Cape May, what are the coordinates these photographs were taken at? As a checksum, also note the name of the building in the center of the image.
You see? It is fun!
