Family Time

With few caches to be found in the area, my interests are turning to other areas, namely exploring.

New Jersey is ripe with weird stuff, so much so that we have a magazine dedicated to all that is odd in this great state. Unfortunately, it is heavily weighted toward North Jersey, but it is fun nonetheless. One of the things I have wanted to do for some time is to visit each of the South Jersey sites which have been documented in the magazine. I’ve gotten to most of them, but I am looking to do something with this, so need to re-visit them.

Part of my fun these days is getting out of the house. With an infant, my desire to be on the road is diminished and when I do want to go, the Honey-Do list seems to always appear. Concentrating on locationless caches recently and re-visiting roadside attractions has helped getting out and like today, has included the ladies.

After the obligatory visit to Babies R Us, it was time for a little of what I wanted to do. Fortunately, the first thing was at Babies R Us . . . or at least the same plaza. Several years ago when this went up, the locals howled. Yes, it is toilet humor, but it is a good chuckle. My wife just shook her head. :) After aborting a visit to purchase a new bed, it was back home.

Along the way, I recalled a chimney along Babcock Creek. I couldn’t remember if it was stone or brick, but decided to check it out. My wife did not want to go off-road. As soon as I turned from pavement to hardpack, she began to growl. I assured her this was not going to be bad. She was ready to pounce on me, but seeing as though we only went a few hundred feet, she calmed down. Sure enough, it was stone, and the Chimneys In The Woods cache was now found

Further down the road, I turned at St. Padre Pio shrine,. As I did, my wife said I should have stopped to get that too. I was surprised. For 10 miles I had been wondering if I should do just that. I decided instead to forgo it and head over during lunch to get what I need. The important thing here is that she is onboard with the current state of things.
