AC Press Runs Article About Political Blogging
Today, The Press of Atlantic City ran an article, Online politics slow to take hold in southern New Jersey, in which 28J was featured.
[Bob] admits he’s not a journalist, but says he and other responsible bloggers do their best to keep online information accurate and up-to-date. Any factual errors are spotted by thousands of users almost immediately and corrected as soon as possible.
And for the Millville resident and other online political enthusiasts, the appeal of a properly maintained blog is exactly that - the speed at which accurate information arrives at your fingertips.
[Bob] says that on blogs, news travels almost in real time, undiluted by political spin or the sound-bite format of mainstream news outlets, particularly television news. Information arriving in a blog via links or posts arrives at his computer screen hours before showing up on stations like NBC or CBS. “I don’t need to watch the 6:30 news,” [Bob] said. “I already know about 80 percent of what’s on.”
Overall, this was a good piece about blogging. The piece led off with a local high school senior, Matthew Johnson, and his Yahoo group, njdebate.tk. After that, the article got into 28J and Congreesman LoBiondo’s web site for re-election.
Jerome Montes interviewed me last Wednesday evening by telephone. He called back Thursday to verify some information. In the interest of having a correct record the following quote attributed to me is not what I said:
“I’d like to see more traffic,” [Bob] said. “And yes, I want to see more discussion of local politics. Do we even know when the debate is for the 2nd Congressional District?”
I said, Do we even know the positions of those running in the 2nd district?
The only other comment I have is that it would have been nice to have the url posted in the article. Oh well . . .

It is interesting to note that PoliticsNJ.com has a link to the AC Press story. PoliticsNJ.com has refused to discuss the advertisement they placed on their site last week by the Cape May County Regular Republicans.
