Geocaching

I am tiring of what is going on with caching of late. There are a couple of fronts.

1. Geocaching.com
I have serious issues with how Groundspeak runs things. The Terms of Use Agreement is poorly written. Bringing that to light brings out the usual if you don’t like it, leave crowd. Sigh. Few understand that the document does not say what Groundspeak wants it to say. Speaking with Groundspeak just gets posting privileges revoked, or as they say, moderated.

2. Locally
We have an influx of new cachers in the area. That is good. The lack of judgment on some of these caches, however, is alarming. Frankly, it isn’t even with the new cachers. One veteran posted a cache in which he said he had great difficulty with the numbers. Since numbers are the underlying requirement to play the game, I just don’t understand why the cache is posted. I am tired of going to one one junky area after another. Someone has suggested that every park needs a cache. No, it doesn’t. Another cacher places a cache near me. He even mentions in the description that is near one of my caches. Yet, he hasn’t even sought that cache. Other cachers are placing caches before they have a handle on using their units, thus the coordinates are troublesome. It’s just the eagerness of being new, but it is tiresome to be the one who has to correct the mistakes.

I think I just need to concentrate on my stuff and let all this other shit just go away.
