I had an extra ticket to this show that I sold to someone I met at the Showboat. That was on a Saturday and the day which I stopped at McDonald’s in Mays Landing and had a most unbelievable experience. I waited forever. So much for fast food. The guy in front of me finally got to the register. He ordered his breakfast for his family. It came to $10.07. He gave the girl a $20. She plugged in the amount. Then he handed her seven cents. The girl looked incredulous. She looked up at the guy and said, “Please don’t make me think, mister.” Our world is going to hell.

Anyhow, I had always wanted to get to the Beacon and this was my day. Life was going well for I had a new girlfriend. I spent the day in NYC having a good time. I finally parked at the venue ($30!) and went in. I was really close. The Beacon is an ideal place for a show. I have a nice recording of the night. DTB was very good. These guys impress me more and more.

Once Tuna hit the stage, I was in heaven. This was a nexus for me. After being out of the concert scene for some time, I had gotten back into some shows and it culminated with Hot Tuna’s set. I have been listening to them for years, but am by no means as into them as some. It didn’t matter. Jorma’s sweet playing and Jack’s thunderous bass was all anyone needed to hear. This show was one of the most pleasant experiences I have had seeing music live.
