Autobiography

The following was the lead to my personal web site when I was with dandy.net. Thanks to the Wayback Machine for this!

Well, it started a few decades ago with an amorous evening between my mother and father. Little did they know the lack of birth control would produce the guy to the left. Oh well, I am a firm believer in consequences . . .

I was raised in Cape May, NJ — an island at the southern tip of the state. Life was life there. I certainly did not appreciate the wonderful setting of the town until I moved away and saw what everyone else dealt with on a daily basis. With that in mind, Cape May is Utopia.

Ah, but adolescence came along . . . it was the seventies . . . the ‘rents were worried about the elements in school, so, off I went to St. Andrew’s, a boarding school in Middletown, DE. Another place that was not appreciated until it was too late. There I ran cross country, learned that there are folks who come from wealth beyond what I’ll ever see, and that a girl can show her figure through a turtleneck and a wool sweater! Holy smokes! I also encountered Shriv . . .

Then came Allentown, PA — a run-down manufacturing town that hosted my college experiemce. I enjoyed Muhlenberg, particularly my study of philosophy. It was here that I learned how to think. Watch out world, I’ve never been the same.

Sowing my oats took place in Beantown, which at the time seemed to be a pilgrimage. My four years taught me a few things: New Englanders never go anywhere, it is important to save money, baby back ribs are awesome, and life plans can change!

Sucking up to the knowledge that my way hadn’t worked, I was humbled with a move back to Cape May. Much as a fish flounders, I finally righted myself and found a new direction — education. Back to school for my masters in elementary education and an appreticeship in technology, my life truly changed!

I stayed in New Jersey, albeit not in Utopia. I teach fourth grade and pursue numerous hobbies. This is my life.

But then along came Gert. Life is indeed sweet. I’ve never been happier.
