After the Rochester show, we had a long ride to Maine. Along the way we picked up a hitchhiker. The girl was younger than we were who was on tour while her child was at home. That always struck me.
Once we hit Maine, the holiday traffic was so backed up it took us forever to get to Wells where the house is. Once there, it was comfortable being in the house away from home. I always enjoyed our time in Maine. It was relaxing and peaceful. I believe on 1 July Dana and I hiked the Rachel Carson Preserve.
With Oxford so close, we were not concerned getting there, but we soon found out the roads were not good enough to accomodate the masses that were rolling in. It was a struggle to get there, but we eventually did.
The show was sweet. There was a lot of banter on stage and my my Crazy Fingers! Lots of new stuff. I ran into a buddy of mine from Cape May way up here at this show.
Once we got back to the house, I crashed. Soon after Leslie showed up. I never saw her, but boy did I hear her. That was the very last time we were ever in the same place together. I left early the next morning to get back to Boston.
