The plan was to have Craig’s brother join us. For some reason he didn’t. He did drop us off at The Spectrum in Craig’s ‘78 Monte Carlo. We had poured over set lists and I called the entire first set in order. I had pretty much the entire show, but futzed something in the second set.

Rick had wanted to see Uncle John’s Band and was not confident it would be played. His lost, obviously. :)

When we got back to Craig’s place, we didn’t see the car. Apparently, Rick had parked the car illegally. He saw the tow guy hooking up the car and rushed down. He offered a bribe and the guy said to go call his boss to see if he could drop the car. When he went up to the apartment to call, the driver took off with the Monte Carlo. We called the tow place to figure out how to get the car. Since it was after midnight, we were now into a second day. Sigh . . .

It was decided that Rick and I would fetch the car the following day while Craig was at class. We took a series of subways and buses to be dropped off near LaSalle. Why we didn’t take a cab from there is beyond me. We had about a two mile walk from where we got off to the tow place. We had a lot of cash on us and we were a bit frightened by the North Philly neighborhood. To be truthful, no one hassled us, but we were very nervous. We eventually secured the car, but it was long and involved and resulted in some scratches to the paint.

Also blogged on this date . . .
