set 3: Southern Cross, Long Time Gone, Carry On, Teach Your Children, Daylight Again –> Find the Cost of Freedom
This was the first CSN show I saw. It was also the first show I ever walked to. The Fairgrounds are a few blocks from my dorm. I don’t exactly recall who went to this show. I imagine it was Craig, Matt, Steve, and me, but am not certain. Seats were pretty good.
I had seen Crosby’s spaced out look at Live Aid six weeks before this show.
I had tickets to Live Aid. But being the good worker I am, I agreed to work that day because it was expected to be busy. About ten o’clock, Mark said I could go. Grrr . . . I watched all of it and had it on tape for years, but no longer.
He seemed to be pretty messed up at this show too. But the highlight by far was vocal on Delta. It was so clean.
I was also taken with Stills’ picking. He was much better than I had picked up from albums. And he also came off as the strength of the band, although it was always Crosby’s voice that made the threesome for me.
